Plus, finding Aces in there means you can start building foundations from the tableau or from the stock as well! Remember that once you finish revealing the stock, the waste is placed back into the stock in the exact same order. The stock is a good place to fish for specific cards since you’ll know exactly what’s there. Once you’ve done what you can on the tableau, you can go through the stock. If you can find some Aces this way, that’s great! If you start filling up stacks on top of those face-down cards, it’s going to be harder to reveal them. Beginners will start going through the stock immediately, but these cards aren’t going anywhere. With those rules understood, the best strategy to begin is to reveal as many face-down cards on the tableau as you can. Also, you can only begin a new stack on the tableau with a King, and the waste pile must maintain the same order that you drew them. On the tableau, you must place cards in descending order from King to Ace, and they must alternate colors. The objective of 1 Card Solitaire is to fill your foundations in ascending order from Ace to King by suit. And remember: once you finish your foundations, you win! Now, you can begin playing! As you can see, the game is all about arranging cards in order. In this version of Solitaire, 1 Card Solitaire, you draw cards from the stock one at a time. When the stock runs out, the waste is brought back into it in the same order. The discard pile next to it is called the waste, where unused stock cards are kept in order of draw. The stack in the upper left is called the stock, which is a pile you can draw from to reveal new cards and add them to the tableau if you’re able. Completing your foundations means you’ve won the game! You must have the appropriate ace down before building on your foundations. The objective of the game is to arrange the cards from the tableau into the four suits-clubs, diamonds, spades, and hearts-in ascending order starting with the ace. When there’s an empty spot, only a king can fill it, so keep that in mind! Revealing all the cards on the tableau is an important strategy of the game. The face-down cards are revealed when there are no face-up cards in front of them. You may arrange cards in descending order on the tableau, switching between suits.įor example, here, you’d be able to move the red queen on top of the black king, but you wouldn’t be able to put the red 5 on top of the red 6. As you can see, there are seven stacks of cards, each with one more face-down card than the next. The cards on the board are called the tableau. In the settings, you can turn autoplay on and off, turn sound on and off, view your game statistics, and view the instructions of the game (just in case the following explanation isn’t enough). There are buttons to start a new game, access settings, and undo the last move. In the bottom left, there’s a timer, and your best time is on the bottom right. Once you hit play, the action begins! The game will automatically arrange your beginning setup.

It’s a little more expensive because of the extra components, but it has almost a 90% review rating from 500+ verified customers. The Ryobi RY803111 offers the best of both worlds for anyone who wants gas performance with (almost) electric convenience. The best 3,000 PSI electric-start gas pressure washer Although it has a lower working volume that causes it to clean slower, this is still the best you’ll get if you want to go electric (unless you’re willing to spend $2,000+ on a commercial product, of course). The GPW2700 is currently exclusive to Lowe’s, but it may have more availability in the future. Everything else is covered by a standard 3-year warranty, from the frame to the accessories. Induction motors run cooler so they can work for longer hours and ultimately have a longer lifespan than common universal motors. To deliver reliable power, a brushless induction motor is used along with an axial cam pump. This is on par with any other electric model in this category, but the advertising can be a little misleading if you don’t read the details. When you’re using max pressure, you’re only getting 1.2 GPM. While it’s true that 2.3 GPM is possible, it’s using reduced pressure. However, one thing to clarify is the 2.3 GPM claim. Sure, that’s a little lower than our 3,000 PSI target, but that’s a pretty notable achievement for a residential electric model where most are in the 2,000 PSI range (and its performance is PWMA certified). The Greenworks GPW2700 is advertised as a 2,700 PSI, 2.3 GPM machine. It’s not quite what it seems, but it’s definitely still good enough to have our vote as the best 3,000 PSI electric pressure washer. The Greenworks GPW2700 was just released in 2020, and it gained quick attention because it’s one of few residential electric models to boast high pressure and high volume. OEM’s axial pump is the company’s second-best pump and it’s maintenance-free, which is helpful since gas pressure washers require more maintenance. The GC190 is Honda’s best residential series engine it’s easy to start, easy to maintain and will run for years. It’s still a fair comparison, and what’s more important than the exact pressure figure is how this power is delivered: a Honda GC190 engine and an OEM Technologies axial cam pump. We do not do art because it is easy, but because we are passionate about it or find it worthwhile. Good for learning and a bit of fun, but the better you get at animating in Flash (especially if you want to take your animation outside of the SWF format), the more frustrating it becomes.”Īs an artist, you may be well aware of the trap the “easy” path presents. Flash is simply not meant to be for animators, and with each new version Adobe is moving farther away from what would be best for US and putting in more features for others, such as web designers.Īdam Phillips, ex-Disney animator and creator of Brackenwood, puts it this way: “When it comes to animation, it’s capable of a lot, but it’s still a toy. It is the easy path and the road well traveled, but it is not worth it in the long run. And if you are just beginning to learn animation, don’t fall victim to what so many hobbyists are doing by using Flash instead of a real animation program. Take the plunge now and save yourself some serious grief down the road. You might fall off a few times, and really consider going back to the little tyke bike that never falls over, but you’d be doing yourself a disfavor. If you want to truly move forward as an animator, it’s time to let go of the little kids’ bike with the training wheels and learn to ride an adult bicycle. The point is not that you CAN’T succeed with Flash, it is that you can succeed faster, better, and with less gray hair springing up if you choose one of the other excellent made-for-animation programs on the market. “But there are a lot of great Flash animators out there who have made great animation!” you may remind me, desperate to not let go of Flash yourself. The brush tool alone won me over, and shortly after I did this quick simple cartoon to celebrate my discovery: Toon Boom is a dream come true for an animator who has spent years battling with Flash to do the simplest things. Next up I downloaded the free trial of Toon Boom Animate. I gave it another shot, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. I had used Digicel Flipbook back in animation school, however (probably mostly due to the lousy computers there) it had a tendency to crash every 2.5 minutes and drove me absolutely crazy. Unlike the early 2000s, I knew that I had a few more options in front of me, so I set out to see what might be best. When I created this cartoon, I had to break it up into several pieces because Flash destroyed the audio sync by the end of several minutes of video. The straw that broke the camel’s back, though, was when I discovered there was a limit to the number of frames a project could have. It’s propensity to crash, the terrible, TERRIBLE drawing tools that “auto-correct” your lines to be no where near the lines you intended, occasional tweens that broke every symbol in every layer in the file. Fast Forward Eight Years.Īfter almost a decade of working with Flash, the quirks of the program were mostly known to me. And for that I will forever be grateful to Macromedia and their little interactive-web-media. The audio was crude, everything was stiff and lifeless, and there are a few visual tangents in there that make me want to go back in time and punch myself in the face, but I was finally doing what I had always dreamed. I worked several freelance jobs designing logos and marketing and used the proceeds to buy a copy of Flash 5, immediately diving into the world of animation! Well, I perhaps should put quotes around “animation” as my early attempts seen here are barely animated at all. I first began animating after seeing and learning of this magical program that would let even a simpleton like me live that glorious dream I had always wanted to live. Or truthfully I should say if it had not been for MACROMEDIA Flash version 5. It is very likely that I would not be “an animator” if it had not been for Adobe Flash. Who really likes reading an editorial that plays it safe, though? Today I’ll be telling you why as an animator, you shouldn’t touch Adobe Flash with a ten-foot pole, and if it’s on your computer right now the “Delete” button should be your next move. Anticipation and Overshoots are Extremes, because. Normally the “right answer” is somewhere in the middle and not at the extremes An extreme keyframe is the moment where a change in direction occurs. So, a priority in younger age groups when determining systems of play and game models is to utilize ideas that are a match to the intellectual ability of the players. Assigning a player to only one positon limits the mental growth of the player over their soccer career. For example, players may have late growth spurts, dramatically change in physical abilities, or may “suddenly” sort out technical abilities such as small-space ball control. It is often the case that players change in their abilities throughout their development years. With younger players, we generally want to avoid positional specialization – the firm assignment of a player to a specific spot on the field during a season. IC3 dictates that we support the development of the perception-action ability in our players – being able to analyze the environment, determine possible choices, and the selection and execution of a “best” choice. In our ideal game model, we look for expansive play with conscious use of risk-taking. The IC3 model is described in more detail here. Our player development standard is based on Intelligence, Competence, Courage, Character (IC3). We use these points to help ground our training and our approach to the game. We have adopted the principles of play from the TOVO methodology, shown below: In order to introduce a system of play, we must first identify our principles of play. Recognizing that we are developing players for the long-haul is an important ingredient in the makeup of youth coaches. A common statement that we make to parents is that “no one wins the World Cup at U11”. In general though, the benefits of basing the system of play and game model around a long-term player development project outweigh the short-term results. There may be situations in which a result is desirable – for morale, in key matches within a competitive framework (league, cup), and for mental skills development (for example, closing out a win, fighting back from a losing position). For exmaple, a system of play and game model that prioritizes direct over-the-top play to a lone forward capable of scoring goals while otherwise sitting in a defensive posture would not generally be considered as supportive of overall player development. In youth soccer, in particular the younger age groups, the game result is less important than a broader objective of player development. Priorities and personnel may shift within the game, which can alter the system of play and game model employed by a team. The coach will base the system of play (and game model) on what is most likely to get the desired outcome. At the professional/elite level, getting a result is often the highest priority. The system of play must be considered in the larger context of a game model which dictates roles, responsibilities, and behaviors in different parts of the field, moments of the game (in/out possession, transitional phases), and opponent responses. When considering which system of play to utilize, the coach must reflect on objectives, principles, and the abilities of the players. Commonly used systems in the modern game include 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 – with a range of variations. There are a variety of systems of play that are utilized in 11v11. US Soccer has prescribed 4 formats based on age group boundaries – 4v4 for U7/8, 7v7 for U9/10, 9v9 for U11/12, and 11v11 for U13 and older. In this article, we take a step back and discuss the considerations in the selection of a system of play and provide some possibilities for the 9v9 format. In the first article of this series, we analyzed the 3-2-3 formation. |
